The Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe has urged all women to take part in safeguarding children and vulnerable people by providing a safe environment mentally and spiritually.

Speaking after conducting a leadership training for Catholic Women Association (CWA) executive in Kanengo Deanery at Lumbadzi, Pastoral Coordinator of the Archdiocese, Father Frank Lazaro Phiri, said the church believes that women have a great connection to humanity, hence it is crucial to guide them on how they can improve their ways.

Father Phiri said, “Women have a great connection to life through motherhood and understanding of nature, so as a church we want to teach them and help them know more about the church and humanity itself.”

Father Frank expressed confidence that they will meet their expectations once they finalise conducting the trainings in the archdiocese.

“This is the 7th deanery, and so far, everything is good and going as we planned, and we believe that in the end, the women will be able to teach other women how to be understanding and protect the vulnerable, and also have good Christian morals,” he said.

One of the facilitators, Chrisy Mithi, an Education Coordinator of the Archdiocese, believes that through teaching women, they have taught the whole archdiocese because

“The archdiocese believes that women play a crucial role in everyday life when it comes to taking care of the sick or kids, hence the orientations will help the education sector because it will know that every child is safe when they are coming to school,” Mithi said.

Chairlady of Kanengo Deanery CWA, Louisa Kamwaza, thanked the archdiocese for organizing the training, saying she has learned a lot that will help her spiritually and physically.

Kamwaza said, “I have learned a lot that will help me change as a woman and a mother, and also I will teach other women who did not come so that we should all benefit from the project.”

One of the participants, Judith Jacob, added that going forward she will be a changed person, as she was doing a lot of wrong things without knowing.

The session started on 4th September 2026 and has ended today on 5th September 2026.
