The Office of Pontifical Missionary Societies (PMS) and the Vocations Office in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe has announced plans to establish vocation ambassadors across the Archdiocese.
The announcement was made on Saturday 22 March, 2026 at St. Theresa Zone (Kaphatenga), under Our Lady of Fatima Parish, during vocation animation sessions in preparation for this year’s Vocations Sunday celebrations.

Speaking after the sessions, Archdiocese PMS Director, Father Geoffrey Chikapa, expressed satisfaction with the progress of preparations for Vocations Sunday, which will be hosted by Salima Parish.
Father Chikapa explained that after conducting animations in different zones and outstations, the PMS and Vocations Office will appoint vocation ambassadors in each parish.

“These ambassadors will be tasked with promoting vocations among their fellow youths. We will animate them so that they are empowered to act as a bridge between the youths and the Office of Vocations,” he said.
He also encouraged representatives from various congregations of priests and sisters in the Archdiocese to actively participate in the animations, emphasizing that their involvement would help young people better understand vocations and respond to God’s call.
Vocations Director, Father John Kaliwamba, highlighted the Church’s need for more servants. He stressed the importance of animating the youth so they can deepen their understanding of vocations and discern their spiritual calling as Christians.

“It is now time for the youth to meditate and reflect on what they have learned, so they can make a decision and respond to God’s call through different vocations in the Church,” Father Kaliwamba urged.
Youth chairperson for St. Theresa Zone, Raphael Kasambala, described the animations as fruitful, noting that they had helped the youth gain a clearer understanding of vocations in the Catholic Church.

He encouraged fellow youths to attend upcoming sessions in their zones and outstations during this preparation period.

PMS and Vocations Office will continue to provide Vocation animations in different zones and outstations under Salima Parish, in preparation for this year’s Vocations Sunday to be held on 26th April, 2026 at Salima Parish.
