Don Bosco Parish Urged to Align Plans with Newly Launched Vision
Parishioners at Don Bosco Parish in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe have been urged to develop plans that align with the Parish’s newly launched Vision.

Archbishop of Lilongwe, His Grace George Desmond Tambala made the call during celebrations in honor of the Parish’s Patron, Saint Don Bosco, today, 01 February 2026 at St. Don Bosco, Area 23 Parish.
Archbishop Tambala commended the Parish for formulating the Vision but emphasized the need to establish a five-year plan to ensure its effective implementation.
“My message for them is to continue on this path. The Vision they have launched must be shared and owned by everybody. If we do not plan, we plan to fail, as they say. As an Archdiocese, I told them we will accompany them because this is a Vision we must shape together,” he said.

His Grace also called for unity among parishioners, urging them to deepen their spiritual lives as Christians by emulating the example of their Patron, Saint Don Bosco.
In his remarks, Parish Chairperson Lenard Chimbende, speaking on behalf of the Parish Council, acknowledged the Archbishop’s request. He said that the Parish will organize seminars and retreats across all outstations to ensure that every Christian understands and embraces the Vision.

“We would like to develop an approach for all Christians under Don Bosco Parish so that everyone knows what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. Above all, we want to deepen our faith so that every Christian understands the core values and actively participates in all church activities,” Chimbende said.
Saint Don Bosco, founder of the Congregation of Salesians, is honored as the Patron Saint of apprentices, students, the poor, young people, and juvenile delinquents.

During the feast day celebrations, Don Bosco Parish officially launched its Vision, which states:
“Called by Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit as a vibrant and committed community of communion: participating by all and growing together with the youth in the family spirit for the establishment of the Kingdom of God.”
