Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, the Right Reverend Vincent Mwankhwala, has urged religious women to remain faithful to their vocation and continue serving God and His people with love, dedication and perseverance.

Bishop Mwankhwala made the call during celebrations marking the silver jubilees of Sister Clara Yudasi and Sister Tereza Kathumba, members of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Tereza, on Saturday 12 September 2026 at Mlare Parish.

Sister Yudasi is from Imfayatonse Outstation under Nathomba Parish in Dowa district while Sister Kathumba is from St. Andrea Kaggwa Parish in area 49, Lilongwe.

 

In his homily, Bishop Mwankhwala commended the two sisters for dedicating 25 years of their lives to religious life and service to God and the Catholic Church.

His Lordship Mwakhwawa encouraged them to remain committed to their vocation and guard against worldly distractions that could undermine their religious mission and witness.

 

 

The Auxiliary Bishop also called on parents to help their children understand and discern different vocations within the Catholic Church, including the vocation to religious life, rather than encouraging them to focus only on marriage and family life.

He said the Church needs families that support young people in discerning God’s call and responding generously to their vocations.

Speaking after the celebrations, Sister Clara Yudasi expressed gratitude to God for sustaining her throughout the 25 years of religious life.

 

She pledged to continue offering her life in service to God and the Church, drawing strength from her vocation and the grace of God.
