The St. Anthony’s Kachebere Major Seminary Choir has expressed gratitude to Mtima Woyera Parish in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe for their financial support towards the choir’s initiative to produce an album and establish a choir club at the seminary.
Speaking after the fundraising event at the parish on Sunday, 08th March 2026, Choir Chairperson, Brother Joseph Kommwa said they are thankful for the generosity of the parishioners.

He explained that the initiative to produce songs was conceived to help train choirs on how best to lead and sing during liturgical celebrations.
“Through the songs we plan to produce, we want Catholic choirs to learn how to follow the liturgy properly, while also spreading the gospel through music,” Brother Kommwa said.
He added that the inspiration for this project came from encouragement by Archbishop George Desmond last year, when the seminary choir led the liturgy at St. Patrick’s Parish during the Day for Consecrated Life.
Reverend Father Isaac Jackson, a formator and teacher at the seminary, noted that financial challenges have hindered their ability to engage in activities aimed at spreading the Word of God.

He emphasized that the establishment of a choir club will serve as a platform for evangelization through singing and for teaching Catholic choirs how to enhance liturgical music.
He further commended Mtima Woyera Parish for their generosity, saying, “We are very grateful for their support. They have assisted us with more than 80 percent of our budget, and this has motivated us to fulfill our promise of producing the album.”

In his remarks, Father Innocent Mtapaonga, parish priest of Mtima Woyera, praised the parishioners for their generosity during the fundraising.

He reminded Christians that the future of the Catholic Church lies in their hands, urging them to continue supporting seminarians in overcoming the challenges.
Fr. Mtapaonga also pledged that the parish will strive to meet the remaining budget needed for the seminary’s album project.
The St. Anthony Kachebere Major Seminary Choir is expected to produce both audio and video albums featuring songs in various languages.
