Malawi Poised to Shape Africa’s Water Future: Hosts 95th AfWASA Meeting
The Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) Chief Executive Officer, Silli Mbewe, says Malawi is ready to play an important role in shaping Africa’s future in as far as water and sanitation is concerned.
This comes as the country prepares to host the 95th Strategic and Technical Council Meeting of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) In Lilongwe from July 21 to 24, 2025
” The event is a great chance for Malawi to show its leadership in tackling climate change, promoting green economy ideas, and managing water in a sustainable way,” said Mbewe.
He has, thereafter, called on private sector to support the event through sponsorships and urged the media to help raise public awareness and coverage of the conference.
Mbewe also thanked the Government of Malawi, AfWASA, and other partners for trusting Lilongwe Water Board with the task of hosting this event.
“This forum gives Malawi a special opportunity to help build a better and more sustainable water future for Africa,” he stated.
In his remarks, Director of Water Services in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, Prince Muleta said the Meeting is expected to help Malawi learn, grow and build stronger systems for Water and Sanitation across the Country
More than 200 delegates from over 20 African Countries are expected to attend the conference.
The theme of the conference is “Green Economy and Climate Resilience in Africa “.
