Madisi Community Receives Food Relief as CADECOM Addresses Climate Change Hunger

The Catholic Development Commission (CADECOM) in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe has expressed its continued commitment in providing immediate relief to families facing hunger due to climate change impact on crop yields in the districts of Dowa and Nkhotakota.
The commitment has been reiterated by secretary of CADECOM in the Archdiocese, Madalitso Chilalire in Madisi Dowa district, where the commission was providing the relief to some families.
Chilalire says the commission is providing households with 20 kilograms of maize, 5 kilograms of beans, 5 kilograms of Likuni Phala, and 2 litres of cooking oil.
“Looking towards long-term solutions, we also plan to distribute planting materials, cassava gardens, sweet potato vines, and six fruit trees per household. The initiative is designed to empower communities to adapt to future climate shocks and ensure long-term food security.”
