Mission Month Begins with Unity Appeal

Dean for Likuni Deanery of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, has called for unity among Christians as they serve the Church in spreading the gospel.

He stressed that Christians should understand the significance of working together as this helps in developing the Church in various sectors.

“As we have started this Mission Month, it is my request to the Christians in our Archdiocese to always work together. Joint cooperation is always needed when serving the Church, and through this, it will help them to fully take part in spreading the word of God during this Mission Month,” said Fr. Kanyambo.

He has also called upon Christians to work with zeal in the different positions which they have been chosen for, “as the Church is still in the elective period.”

In his remarks, the outgoing Pontifical Mission Societies Director in the Archdiocese, Father Thomas Msalala expressed expectations for significant changes among the Christians at Kachebere Parish during this Mission Month in terms of Church participation and involvement in various sectors.

“We have great expectations from Kachebere Parish Christians, as we have been coming here, giving them different animations on Church teachings, which they have responded to well. I also believe that as the outgoing PMS Director, Christians in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe will continue observing the main pillars of our Church,” said Father Msalala.

This year’s Mission Month theme is “Go and call everyone to attend the banquet” (Matt 22:9).

Father Geoffrey Chikapa is now the new Pontifical Mission Societies Director of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, following his appointment by the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, His Grace George Desmond Tambala.
